Surviving Career Recession Planning

What do you do, when your office has career recession planning for you? In today's workplace, succession planning is important for advancing those employees that are liked by members of management but recession planning is for those that are tolerated by management. In Career Recession Planning select staff members are ofter demoted to lesser paying positions in lieu of termination of employment. The underlying premise is that we will demote you because we know how difficult it will be to find a job in the current economic hard times. Your pay will be cut, your workspace will change and your duties will change BUT you can continue to work in the same office - WTF?

But here is the catch - SURVIVAL. I am currently surviving my career recession planning. It has been extremely difficult. The most difficult part is still working in the same office and watching others get promoted as part of the succession planning. When my recession was being planned by senior staff members I dont think that they thought the plan completely through. In the beginning I cried more days than I laughed but that is slowly changing. I am thankful for the less stressful work; however, I need to do more challenging work. I did not got to college to be a glorified file clerk.

I have had to make some SERIOUS changes in my living standards, but I will do what ever I need to do until something better comes along. Why - because I am a Diva!!!!
